Mommy vs. Yaya

Have you ever felt that sometimes our kids tends to listen more to their yaya's than us? It's annoying and sometimes frustrating on our part. Our yaya has been in the family for more than 3 decades. We are lucky to have her because nowadays it is very hard to find someone like her. But yesterday I was not in my perfect mood. In our house we always have the so called "bargaining-agreement". For them to play outside they have to oblige to my simple rule like keeping their toys before playing with the computer, taking a nap and finishing their afternoon snack. It was 4 pm a perfect time to play outside, I serve them their snacks, without a word they dig in to what I have served them. They are literally in a hurry because their playmates are waiting outside our gate. It just happened that my 2 kids and my niece finished their snacks ahead of my nephew. So like a typical kid my nephew Zach, doesn't want to finish his food anymore because the 3 kids left him. He told me "Mommy Ninang I'm done!" I looked at his plate and i saw that there's still some food left on his plate. So I told him "We agreed earlier, if you will not finish you food you are not entitled to play outside" then our yaya Aida heard our conversation. Without a word she approached Zach and told him to stop eating and go ahead to play outside. I was stunned with what she said suddenly, Mommy Ninang as they called me became, Monster Ninang! At the back of my mind what is wrong with you! So I told her to shut up and let me do the disciplining that I wanted. As long as I am not being physical with them let me do my work! I was really pissed with our confrontation yesterday. I talked to my mom and my dad about it I told her my stand. I knew they understand me. But, nevertheless I will still be forever thankful to her for her loyalty in our family. But still I want her to understand that I am still the MOM and the MOMMY NINANG to my kids and my brothers kids...
